Grassroots Girls

Victory in the Euros for the England Lionesses in 2022 sparked a catalyst for positive change within women’s football. I wanted to see this for myself, so in August 2022 I started documenting Forest Green Rovers women’s football team, an upcoming and fully vegan football club in the heart of The Cotswolds. Over the past 8 months I have photographed everything from the late-night training sessions, rainy away matches and the emotion shown after scoring the winning goal in the 91st minute. This body of work demonstrates the sense of community surrounding grass roots football and the commitment that each player has towards their club.
